Open Skies Wilderness Expeditions was formed out of one very simple desire...
to introduce people to the Africa we know and love and for them to leave this wonderful continent with the same passion for this place we have. Not only for it's fauna and flora but also the amazing people that give the continent it's incredible magnetism. Having had the fortune of growing up with wildlife at our doorstep it was no surprise that we find ourselves trying to encourage others to visit the last true wilderness areas on this Planet. By utilising our expertise we provide you with the best possible private guided Kruger National Park experience and the highest level of service without it costing an arm and a leg! Only when people have experienced the thrill of Africa can we truly begin the process of saving our natural heritage. With our unique air conditioned, specially designed Safari vehicle we put you in the best possible place to see everything this amazing region has to offer. Including Buffalo herds in the hundreds to leopards on the hunt. Open skies private guided experiences will leave you wanting more. To have left this amazing place having seeing the big five would be great, we believe however, to have left having truly understood the dynamic of the greater Kruger National Park ecosystem is far superior.
Brian Masters was born to do this job!

He was raised on the border of the Kruger National Park and from the age of 4 knew he would spend his time amongst the wild animals of the region. Following his studies into Game Ranging and Game Farm management he then moved back into the bush to start as a guide at the world renowned Tanda Tula Safari Camp in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. It was here that his real bush education got underway. Having the privilege of working with the leaders in the industry he quickly learnt many skills that made him one of the youngest Professional Guides in the industry. By learning from his Shangaan tracker the ancient skill of tracking animals on foot he became one of the very few to achieve the level 3 tracker recognition. At the tender age of 23 he was given the ultimate endorsement when he was made the youngest ever General Manager of Tanda Tula Safari Camp where his skills where further honed and specialized. After 7 years in the bush he decided to grow his understanding of the industry by taking up a marketing role within the broader business down in Cape Town, but it was no surprise that his passion for Africa quickly brought him back to the bush to start up Open Skies Wilderness Expeditions.
“I will forever be indebted to the wonderful people who assisted me in gaining the experience I have."
"From Snorkeling with crocodiles in Lake Tanganyika, Kayaking with Southern Right Whales or tracking Lions in the Kruger I have always and will always, be a student of the natural environment. The old Shangaan trackers of this world see things us westerners simply cannot because our civilized eyes have become cluttered with superficial things. Every day I spend out in the bush I am learning and to me that is the greatest reward for living on this phenomenal continent.”
